Friday a week ago most of our family went up to Denver to help with drywalling the ceiling at the God's Missionary Church up there.
Here's a before picture.
The Albertson clan had gotten a lot of prep work done such as taking down lights, taping up plastic, and laying out particle boards on top of pews for a platform to work on.
The men unloaded all the drywall and started to get it up Friday night.
Of course, the little boys had a great time climbing around on the "platform."
We ladies got busy helping Joy Albertson slice cucumbers from their garden and onions and peppers for a batch of pickles.
I had a hard time not drooling over all those luscious, home-grown cucumbers with tender skins
not coated with wax like the store cucumbers.
Early next morning Rowen and Emily and Joanna arrived. Emily was such a help, working right alongside her dad, covering carpet and helping with even putting up drywall.
I am always impressed with young people who pitch right in and help with whatever needs to be done and who are willing to learn how to do new things.
Joanna was a pro with making the pickles.
I am always impressed with girls who actually know how to do something besides text messages on their phones.
I kept running over every once in a while to take pictures of all the hard work going on.
Randy and his dad are getting a piece of drywall ready to lift up.
There it goes.
They had put together this T post thing-a-ma-jig to hold the drywall up while the guys nailed it up.
Meanwhile, we ladies tried to find ways to help, too. Carrie is transplanting some flower starts.
The guys were getting done with the sanctuary in record time, so they decided to drywall the two front side rooms as well. We ladies helped with moving all the stuff out and hanging plastic, etc.
Danny and Micah loved picking tomatoes, green beans, and a jalapeno pepper off their amazing little backyard garden that had produced a bumper crop.
The men finished taping and mudding.
And after a delicious supper, we headed home.
