Our Girls Serve as Auxiliary for Fire Dept

Last weekend Sam brought an S.O.S. home from the Ladies Auxiliary at the fire station. Other volunteers were elsewhere Saturday morning, and the fire department was supposed to do their annual pancake breakfast for the community, in cooperation with another event in Peyton that day.
Could Sam's sisters come help?
They did! It was quite an experience out in the beastly hot sunshine, cooking over a hot grill!
But they had lots of fun.
Here is a picture of the line waiting for breakfast later in the morning.
They served not only pancakes but also scrambled eggs, sausages and links and bottles of water and gatorade and other such drinks.
The assistant fire chief's wife showed the girls how to do everything and is here lugging and chugging the water into the pancake mix.
Carrie dipping the batter onto the hot grill.
Timmy gets his share and goes to a table in the bright sunshine.
Sam and another firefighter stand by to make emergency trips back to the firehouse for things that had been forgotten!
This grill made the best pancakes! Fifteen at a time.
Afterward, the girls told us that they were given Ladies' Auxiliary tops and asked to ride in the fire engine for the parade!
So here are the newest Peyton Fire Ladies' Auxiliary team members, Cousin Elisa (middle) included!
They got a kick out of the parade. For such a small town, there was quite a crowd of onlookers, but the Fire Department's four trucks were the bulk of the parade!
Speaking of parades, here is a little saying that I found that I thought was pretty good:
"People only rain on your parade
because they're jealous of your sun and tired of their shade."
Well, there wasn't much shade to be had that day in Peyton!
