"Has anyone had any wins this week?" interim president Mark Becker would ask at SIM staff meeting.
A week or two ago, there was a big win as the old rickety deck and steps leading to the Montour Memorial Chapel in Winner, SD, was replaced with good concrete deck, steps, sidewalk and ramp!
At least three Native men helped Jonathan, Danny, and Tim Replogle with the project.
Rare are the days when it rains or is misty here in South Dakota, but on the day they poured concrete? Mist hovered in the air, keeping the concrete from setting up and drying out well in order to finish the top.
Tim went to the store and purchased some chicken quarters to grill for the team's supper as they waited for the concrete to set up.But how wonderful it looked when the project was finished!
Danny is just learning to weld, and he spent an evening welding the railings while Crystal, Jonathan, and I were gone to Missouri.
I like this picture!
And this one!
This is how they set light poles on the rez!
Another snapshot of work going on.
