Gotta love my boys!
Danny poses with his ice-breathing dragon of a dog!
This was the size of icicle we had recently during a cold spell.
Sam had some interesting stories to tell last evening.
Several of the people that he helped rescue last night were from Texas,
Arkansas, or Alabama. So they were not exactly used to the blizzards of
Colorado. One family was on their way to Utah from Alabama. I-70 had
been closed so they came another Direction and found that Rt. 24 was
closed, too. And the family ended up stranded in the blizzard. They
spent the night on the concrete floor of the Peyton fire station! Along
with about 34 other people! The firemen pulled the ambulance out to make
more room for all the people who were overnighting there.
Sam
also was along when he and another guy were trying to rescue a couple
girls who were stuck in their truck that was near another stuck truck.
The girls didn't want the firemen to try to pull them out lest it injure
their truck, so Sam and the other guy pulled the other truck out
instead and then called a grader to come which cleared the road around
those girls' truck. The girls did not want to be taken to the fire
station so the firemen left them. Later the girls called 911 and wanted
to be taken to the fire station after all. Then a few minutes later they
called and they had changed their minds again. Needless to say, this
was pretty annoying to the firemen!
Even
a snow plow had gotten stuck. It was quite some hours yesterday before
different roads were cleared of stuck vehicles and snowbanks for traffic
to go through. Jonathan was able to get to work and later Sam got to
the place they are building, but he spent quite a while
just shoveling snow out.
More pictures from a few weeks ago.
We have drifts here
anywhere from 1 foot to 7 feet high. We hope that as it melts there will
be enough runoff to fill our seasonal Pond which is completely dry
right now.
I haven't had much time to blog, but here are a few pictures clear back from New Years when we traveled over for the weekend in western Colorado and attended Sunday service at the Western Colorado Holiness Chapel.

Jonathan and Sam and Danny went ice fishing with our friend Mike Saylor.
They set up an ice-fishing tiny hut that Mike Saylor had been given for Christmas.
Other huts around them.
Scooping slush and ice from the hole.
Unfortunately they caught no fish. Zero. Fortunately, they still had a great time.
Even saw a few elk on our way home.
And helped pull two vehicles out of the ditch along the road through South Park.
