Thanksgiving Sunday--Where Music Is Valued

Sunday after Thanksgiving the clan gathered in a church we'd rented for the occasion, along with several people involved in this church.
The church is big enough to seat at least a couple hundred people, and is barely being used, so the family is negotiating with the person in charge regarding beginning services there.
Our family outside the door!
For this Sunday at least, the front several pews were pretty well filled!

We had tried to practice downstairs ahead of time! This picture is actually just David playing his guitar.

Four boy cousins--Ezra, David, Gabey, and Samuel--sang an old Morley boys' quartet, "Peace Like a River."
The Missouri-ites sang a hymn of joy and praise.
The children age 11 and younger sang a new Thanksgiving song that Susanna helped them learn.

The out-of-state families were each asked to bring a song. Here Gabriel's family (including our Timmy who is living with them while attending Penn View) sang "My Tribute."

Kezia and her two girls sang a beautiful song. Her husband shared from a Psalm and a New Testament passage. Our family sang a song, but I was busy singing, so did n't get a photo.

Elon sharing from Psalm 103, "Bless the Lord, O my soul," and don't forget God's many benefits.
What this Psalm tells us, Elon said, is that we are forgetful.
We are sinful,
sick,
destroyed,
needy,
hungry, and
oppressed.
Yet the Lord is merciful and gracious.
He is so kind to us, forgiving us, healing us, redeeming us, satisfying us.

My mom and dad--the ones who started it all, says Mom!

Jonathan and Erika trying to figure out how to get the electric knife to work!
Sunday dinner at a very, very long table--long enough for 52!
Well, almost long enough. A few had to eat at a round table.
Having fun visiting afterward.
The boy cousins (and Susanna's boyfriend, Daniel Hunter, second from Ezra on left) visiting.
Sunday evening our family gathered our stuff, said goodbye at umpteen places, and traveled an hour and a half down to Mt. Zion where we stayed overnight with Crystal,
and also visited the Goodwins who are unable to get out much.
We had great fun listening to them reminisce about Bible College days where Sis. Linda Lee tried to crawl through a space that was too narrow--and got stuck!
That happened in the old girls' dorm, she said.
She hoped she wouldn't teach our girls bad tricks! :) :)
