Now that new fence is up, the neighboring rancher has let his cattle out to roam around the perimeter of our property.
Every morning we have curious cows checking us out. Sometimes they are over to the south and other times they are up right next to our back yard.
Sometimes it is rather hilarious--the way they line up along the fence and just stare and stare at us as we look out the window and as the dog barks at them quite unsuccessfully.
We wonder what makes them so curious.
Are we really that interesting?
So we just stare right back--us in the middle of our morning rituals--
reading our Bibles, praying, making coffee, me taking one supplement or powder after another, making lunches for the guys,
scrambling eggs and setting on breakfast.
Oh, and milking the goats and straining the half gallon milk.
Because those curious cows are just beef cattle and don't produce a drop of milk for us.
We depend on the goats for our milk, and right now we're getting over a gallon a day.
We turn a lot of it into goat cheese, but we're also supplying a few families with good goat milk and goat cheese sometimes, too.
One lady can't eat cow milk, and another elderly man used to have GERD till we started sharing goat milk with him.
His stomach issues cleared up nearly overnight.
There's more than curious cows looking on as we live our lives.
